The MCCI® Model 3142 USB4 Switch is a computer-controlled programmable 2:1 switch, connecting two USB Type-C® receptacles to a single Type-C plug. It is compatible with USB4 hosts and devices at signaling rates up to 80 gigabits/second, as well as other protocols such as Thunderbolt™ 4, Thunderbolt™ 3, USB 3.2, USB 2.0, USB Type-C Alternate Modes, and of course USB Power Delivery. It also supports Extended Power Range (EPR) sources and sinks, allowing it to be used with source and sinks at up to 48V at 5A.


Connect the micro-B port to a PC using a standard USB cable. The Model 3142 will appear as a serial port on Windows 10&11, macOS, or Linux. When connecting via a serial port on a PC, we recommend Tera Term. See animation below. Use Setup > Serial port and set the port to 9600, n81. Use Setup > Terminal to select New-line > Receive: AUTONew-line > Transmit: CR+LF, and Local echo on. Type ? <enter> for help. "port 1" enables port 1, "port 2" enables port 2, "port 0" disconnects. Additional commands: "status" displays the status of the Model 3142, and "version" shows the firmware and hardware version.

Download Latest Firmware

  • Download the latest firmware file for Model 3142 from the attachments.
  • Download latest version of MCCI Cricket UI (Windows, Linux and Mac OS).
  • Go to Cricket UI click on "Tools" -> "Model 3141/3142 Firmware Update.
  • Click on Search button its loaded Model3141/Model3142 Switch.
  • Click on "Load" Button and upload latest Firmware hex file and start the "update"
