MCCI Model 4922 Test Controller Kit

The MCCI Model 4922 Test Controller Kit is a computer-controlled programmable test adapter that allows fully hands-off control of Texas Instruments evaluation modules ("EVMs") for the Sitara AM243x, AM64xx, and AM62xx chips. Instead of changing physical DIP switches to change boot modes, test automation can directly configure the modules. This lets you set up remote developers and automatic regression tests with access to all the features of the module and avoid physical contact with the TI EVM boards.

The MCCI Model 4922 Kit has a shield board, and a control board fixed on it. A USB Micro-B port is available on the control board of the Model 4922 kit and is used for powering up and controlling the Model 4922 Kit.

Getting started

TI boards allow Model4922 to manipulate some of the basic operations like setting desired boot mode, power-on reset, power down, et. The Model4922 board can be used to interface the TI Eval boards via the test automation header to perform the mentioned operations.

Hardware

  1. Host Test Machine (Windows/Linux/MAC)
  2. MCCI Model4922 Test Controller Board
  3. FPC/FFC 40 Pin Ribbon Cable
  4. USB Type-C power adapter (to power up the TI board)
  5. USB Micro-B cable (2 Nos; one for Model4922 Kit and other for TI Board)

Software

  1. Terminal App (Tera term, et)

Model4922-TI Board Interface

Both the MCCI Model4922 kit and the TI Eval boards were equipped with 40-pin FPC Connectors within the boards and can be connected via a 40-Pin FPC Ribbon cable.

Gently open the FPC connector clip on the model 4922 kit and insert the ribbon cable, make sure the cable sits on the connector firmly and lock the clip gently. The same procedure has to be carried out on the TI board side.

Model4922 Test Setup

MCCI Model 4922 Test Setup

The Model4922 & the TI Eval boards must be connected to the Host test machine and to the Terminal Apps separately.

The Test control will be initiated from the Terminal App connected to the Model4922 kit and the TI board’s behavior will be observed from the other terminal app to which the TI is connected.

Note: While connecting the TI board refer to the resp. board’s start-up guide for setting up/configuring the board’s UART.
